Saturday - Dec. 4, 2010

Terry and I went to Charleston yesterday and I had another "throat stretching" operation. Everything went well and I can now eat again! My doctor told me that the opening in my throat had contracted to 2 centimeters so it is no wondering that I was having trouble swallowing. He said that everything in my throat looked fine so that was good news. However, I hope this is the last stretching for a while.

We left our house at 4:30 AM and were back home around 1:30. Terry drove both ways and I am enclosing a picture of her and the cats "resting" Friday afternoon.

Terry & I went to a birthday party at my neighbors home this afternoon. The party was timed so we could watch the South Carolina Vs Auburn game for the SEC title. South Carolina got annihilated and the second half was especially bad. Oh well, at least they won the SEC East title last week so they will at go to a bowl game - probably the Outback Bowl. I can't believe that I've become such a SC Gamecocks fan.

Those of you who have been watching my blog on a regular basis may have noticed that my picture is back on the right side of the page. It just disappeared a few blogs back and I couldn't fix it. However, my daughter, Tana, fixed it yesterday. Thanks, Tan!! She told me that she was also going to try to set up my site to automatically send out an email to my mailing list when I updated my blog. I don't know if she was able to do this or not but you will be the first to know if you receive a notice!

I am also sending a picture of a pair of Mallard ducks that showed up on our lake yesterday. They must have been hungry because they swam over to me when I walked to the edge of the water with some bread. They weren't at all afraid so I am wondering if they were here before.

I am also sending a few other cat pictures. I took one of Chicky playing with my socks that were still warm from the dryer.

I hope you are all doing well. All comments are appreciated.

  1. Bernie, the email option must work because I got one this morning. I'm glad you got the picture back be cause I remember where that was taken and who took it. At my house and me. That's where and who. During one of our shooting events you turned into a fishing event! I'm glad things went well in Charlston. I go back to Duke on Dec 13. God Bless you Bernie.

  2. Bernie - I saw your last blog entry with photos and you are looking really trim, healthy trim that is! After my run in with prostate cancer early this year and my surgery, I dropped from 180 to 160; it was a blessing in disguise. But the reality is I am back up ranging from 170-175. This is not a good weight to be when you are 5'-4"! Ugghhh! I hope your throat stretching does the trick this time. Regards to Teri.

  3. It appears you are doing pretty good Bern. You are down to my size now. Hope the throat stays open. That procedure can't be much fun.
Stay out of trouble and maybe you'll get something in your Christmas stocking.

  5. Bernie- I think there should be some exercise to stretch it. Maybe EATING all the time- works on mine. Your picture looks great so what you're doing seems to be working. Is your throat sore after or is it business as usual the next day? I like that you now seem to update more often....Bob Mc
