Bernie is going home tomorrow. The doctor said he should be discharged about 9 am -- I figure that means 11 or so. I've got his feeding apparatus and liquids in the car already. The doctor said he will be on the feedings by tube for about 2 weeks. Bernie will have a follow up here in Charleston in 2 weeks. I think they will take his staples out then -- he has about 25 in his stomach. Bernie still has quite a bit of congestion and, apparently, this is one of the side effects of this particular surgery. They want him to walk as much as possible which will help him with the congestion. All in all, he is way ahead of schedule and looking forward to going home.
