Week 13 - Monday 4-19-10

We came home yesterday afternoon. It's been a bit hectic since then. I am doing well. I still have pain and the pain meds make me tired. However, I ate several small meals toiday -- all pretty nutritious. My congestion seems to be better. Terry managed the tube feeding okay last night -- it took 10 hours instead of 12 so that was good. A home health care nurse came by yesterday and reviewed my meds and info. She will come a couple of times a week to check my Coumadin levels and glucose. I have another appt with the surgeon on 5/11 (I'll have an xray an hour before the doctor's appt). I should have the staples taken out then and, hopefully, he will stop the tube feedings.

I am posting a few pictures of my operation wounds and scars that show where some the 6 tubes were pulled out of my belly and chest. I still have the feeding tube--. The wound in my belly/chest was closed with about 30 staples. The wounds in my back were closed with sutures and glue! When the tubes were pulled out of my back, I seriously thought I would die. I still have a great deal of pain there.

Chicky, the kitten, loves the "toys" that I have to use to improve my breathing. The toys make varous sounds when I breath through them and Chicky thinks it is play time when I get them out. She also likes to play with my walker.

It's good to be home!!
