Week Two - Tuesday

I didn't send a blog yesterday because I wasn't feeling too great. I thought I was coming down with a cold, but I feel better today. I want to thank my many blog followers for sending me comments. I think you can all see each other's comments but, for the record, I would like to thank the following:

Tana, Nancy Humphries, Bianca and Bill, Frank Brown Jr., Katie & Jim at Riverbanks, Gary B, Marie & Harry and the girls, Nelson Emory and friends at Drew, Dottie, Jen and PAAL friends, Rosemary and Ted, Mark Hobbs, Henry Martin, Gregg, Christine and Lauren. I hope I didn't forget anyone. I also want to thanks Margaret Braken for phone call yesterday and to thank my friends at the SC Silver-Haired Legislature.

It is a very rainy day today in Charleston and the streets are starting to flood. We found a charming cafe that makes wonderful pastries and desserts as well as full meals. Terry and I are both afraid that we are gaining weight and we haven't even hit any of the major Charleston restaurants yet. The Graduate Students at MUSC made dinner for us at the Hope Lodge last night and it was delicious -- actually had healthy food in it. It was rice, red beans, broccoli and fresh corn bread along with chocolate cream pie, one of my favorites. I am only having radiation this week so we have a lot of free time. We each had chair massages yesterday, compliments of MUSC. Terry is finding some yoga classes to start soon.

I'm feeling pretty well, but do get tired if I walk too much. Please keep the comments coming.

  1. Hi Bernie,
It's rainy and cold here in Columbia too. I wonder if the cafe you guys found is near the downtown area. George and I found a really cozy one not long ago.
All is well on Arcadia Lakes Drive; it was so cold Sunday night that they salted it to avoid black ice problems.
We look forward to seeing you back this weekend. Enjoy the great food!
    Love, Shelley and George

  2. Hi Shelley
The little cafe is named Halo and it is very lose to MUSC on Asheley. I wonder if the traffic slowed down for the ice but I doubt it! We are still eating your pasta. It is even better warmed up!
    Love & hugs,
    Bernie

  5. Hi Guys---Freezing here, too. ALL the groundhogs saw their shadows, so I guess it'll stay freezing for another 6 wks. Don't worry, it'll make us enjoy the spring even more! Sounds like you are feeling better today, Bernie. Terry- you better get to yoga--if you don't use it, you'll lose it!! Thinking of both of you every day. Always--Marie

  6. Bernie, It's good to see your picture. We all miss you from the pool at Drew. The class just isn't the same without all the Bernieisms. A sunny day here today, but rain is back on Fri. Take care, and we're glad to hear you can get out some and enjoy Charleston. Daffodils will be popping soon!! I'm sure you miss the orchids. Bobbi

  7. Bernie, I'm so glad that you and Terry can enjoy some of the special things about Charleston. I know that it can be boreing and nerve-racking to have to wait for time to pass...but I'm glad that this week will be radiation only...I hope that it all goes well. I've been a bit under the weather since last Thursday; had oral surgery which knocked me out for the weekend; then had a 24 hr. "bug" that lasted for 48 hours; then today had a biopsy of my nose which wasn't fun. Won't hear from the test for seven days. Our weather remains "unsettled" to say the least....miss you. becky (I don't know how to set up my name)
