My doctor in Charleston has decided to put a steel mesh stint in my throat to keep it from closing up. He will be able to remove the stint some time in the future when the scar tissue stabilizes. At the present time I am having difficulties swallowing again and I hoped he would do the procedure today. However, my blood is still too thin even though I haven't taken Comedin for about a week. He has now scheduled the procedure for Monday, conditional on my PT level being below 1.6. I will have my doctor here in Columbia do another test tomorrow to make sure I don't go to Charleston on Monday and find out that we can't do the procedure.
A further problem is that Terry is going to New York on Sunday to visit he sisters for ten days. I can't drive after the procedure so I need some help. Fortunately, my good friend, Jay, who lives in Beauford, SC, has invited me down to spend some time at his home while Terry is gone. So the present plan is for me to drive down to Jay's house on Sunday. He will then drive me to Charleston on Monday for the procedure after which I will go back to his home for a few days. Problem solved! Thank God for good friends.
I still don't have an appetite and not being able to swallow doesn't help matters. This hasn't been a very good week but I hope things will be better after the procedure on Monday. I'm tired of being sick!

Bernie, It's tough being sick and it will get better. Sometimes you have to just keep going and don't give up. We all want you better, and it's good to have those friends too. We'll be waiting to hear some more news! Bobbi

Bernie- I LIKE the stent idea. You need to be able to swallow. Tell Jay I said hi. They should have done that in the beginning...Bob
