I had a good day today. My feeding tube came out yesterday afternoon on its own and I was able to sleep in my bed last night for the first time since before my operation. My doctor wasn't happy about the tube coming out and told me that I had to make sure I ate a lot of high protein food to help with the healing. I tried hard today and will see if I managed not to loose any more weight. I usually weigh myself first thing in the morning and this morning I weighed 198 pounds. I could still stand to loose another 15 or 20 pounds but I'm going to try not to loose any more for a while, at least until I see my doctor on the 11th.
We finally got some much needed rain last night but could still use some more. Everything was all wet and green this morning and my garden seemed to love it! We could use some more!
I only had one comment to my last blog so I guess I better find something a little more interesting to write about. Maybe just more pictures-----?
Bernie the loss of the feeding tube is great. I remember when they pulled mine out. It was just pulled out and had no adverse effects. I was afraid it would hurt, it didn't. They are hooked to the small intestine and that has much less chance for infection than the large intestine. You look good.

Bernie, you look great in that picture!! And the yard does too. Busy, busy weekend with CC graduation (brief talks at the Undergraduate AND Graduate ones...it makes for a longggggggggg day!!) Hope I can stop over this weekend, though. Getting ready for some work in the yard by a landscaper...my yard is old and needs some shoring up....am also getting a sprinkling system put in...finally...I've wanted one for a long time, and with the work that is to be done, that can be done at the same time, easier....also have had lots of limbs cut from the trees nearer the pool....is making pool cleaning lots easier and makes the yard/pool sunnier. Went over to Cooper's Nursery this p.m. It is beautiful there....but what is really LOVELY (!!) is Woodley's Garden Center...is breathtaking....but also more expensive than almost anywhere else.....wish I could take you for a drive to see some of that. Would you be able to? Glad the feeding tube is out and that you're doing well without it; it IS important to have good nutrition (especially protein) during the healing process. I'm going to bring some Baskin Robbins ice cream to you....that will ENSURE (!!) no weight loss!! love, becky
ReplyDeleteHi Bernie!
ReplyDeleteI love your flowers, they are B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L!!!! I remember when you would bring some to work and the fragrances would just take your breath away. I left you Chuck Williams’ phone number, did you ever call him? Also Debbie Taylor from St. Louis asked about you.
I keep up with Scott's journey, I see he is a professor; that is a fine young man. I know you and Terri are sooooo proud of his accomplishments.
I just want you and Terri to know you are thought of often. If I can do anything for you, please let me know.
Much Love,
Cassandra
You're looking good. Today, Dad ask about you. He had a stroke a couple of days ago and was totally out of it yesterday. You were one of the first people he thought of when he started showing signs of recovery. He is at Grady Hospital here in Atlanta in the new Marcus Stroke Center. He will probably be moved to a rehab facility in Columbia toward the end of the week.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are making such good progress.
