If all goes according to the plan, about this time a week from today, I will be in the Intensive Care Unit of MUSC's Ashley Towers hospital - minus about ten inches of my esophagus and the cancer. I am supposed to stay in the ICU for two days and then transfer to room in the hospital for the next two weeks. Terry will stay Thursday and Friday night at the Hope Lodge and then stay in my room for the rest of the time. There is a couch/futon that makes into a bed and the room is actually about the same size or even larger that the room at the Hope Lodge. There is a computer in the room so we should be able to keep in touch via the Internet. Terry will keep everyone posted via my blog until I am able to use the computer.
I sure hope that Terry will be able to get out and see a little more of Charleston than she did during our last 5 weeks there. I know that this entire ordeal has been a strain on her but she never complains. I need to live a long time to pay her back!
Terry and I walked around a bit today, mostly at Walmart and Sam's. I not feeling really great and I hope I'm not coming down with a cold or the flu. I need to be well for the surgery! I think it is only my allergies that are acting up. The pollen count is way up today and everything is actually coated with yellow dust. This happens every year and most of the pollen comes from the pine trees.
I let the kitten out today for a bit and she was fascinated by the tulips and other flowers. I took a few pictures and I will post them with this. I also took a few shots of her watching TV.
It only got up to 90 degrees today and didn't break the 91 degree record. It is supposed to be very hot and dry for the next week.
Bernie,
ReplyDeletePraying for surgical success, a speedy recovery and getting you back to representing seniors as you have so ably done in the past. Bless you for all you have done for others.

Bernie it sure was good to see you today at Drew. It was nice you could stop by to see a few of the regulars. You look fantastic and I sure wish you much success with the upcoming surgery. It sounds like you are getting very good care and it's nice you have the family support too. Bobbi & the Drew gang
