Week Six - Thursday

Today was a very long day and it is now late, so I will make this short. We arrived in Charleston around 10:30, got my port plugged in, had blood work and then met with my chemo doctor. By 12:30 PM, I was plugged in and waiting for my chemo drugs. For some reason, there was a back log at the pharmacy that supplies the drugs so I waited, and waited. It was almost 6:00 PM before the chemo was completed and we headed back to Columbia.

I was able to eat some soup for lunch and felt pretty good all day. In fact, we stopped at Appleby's in Columbia to get some dinner and I was able to eat a "slider" without too much troubled. There were 3 on the plate and fries but I didn't push it. For those of you who don't know what a slider is, it is a small hamburger like you would get at White Castle. This was the first red meat that I have had in well over a week and I still don't have much pain. Maybe the worse is over. I'll let you know how I feel tomorrow.

Anne Marie and Cade are staying with us this weekend and our cat's are trying to spread the love around all four of us. Chicky is such a little flirt!

I will a write a longer blog tomorrow and post some of the dates that I have scheduled for tests and doctor visits. Also, Scott is visiting for a weekend later this month.

Thanks for the comments. It is nice to know that people are actually reading this blog. Also, thanks to Brother Bob for the the phone call tonight. It was great hearing from you!

  1. Hi Bernie. Sounds like you are blasting right through all of this chemo and radiation. Now you just need to hang with your cats and watch the flowers bloom, right? We have been thinking about you each and every day and wish you all the best. Keep up the great work. We might actually have some flowers blooming here before all that long. The daffs are starting to peek through the ground..... Love you!!! holly and john

  5. Bernie...I didn't know that Scott is coming! How exciting!! I know you are enjoying Ann Marie, Cade, and the kitties. Wish I could stop over, but I'm not feeling well with a head cold....don't want to expose anyone to it. Today is beautiful and sunny and that's the way I envision your future. If anyone can beat this thing, it is YOU!! Enjoy the sunshine and watching your plants come up...love to you and Terry. becky
