Week Nine - Monday

It is cold and cloudy today and it looks like it is trying to rain. It did rain yesterday but it was somewhat warmer than today. However, the spring flowers seem happy and I have several things that are in bloom. Even the tulips are starting to bloom but only the yellow ones so far. I will post a few pictures.

I felt pretty good yesterday afternoon and even took Terry out to dinner. We only went to Applebee's but it was nice to go out for a change. I took some pain meds before going out and was able to eat without much trouble. Today I am feeling okay - not great but okay. I'm going to have a turkey burger for dinner and would love to have some frys with it. We'll see--. (The frys were a bad idea!)

I have an appointment with my oncologist in Columbia on Wednesday. He wants to test my blood to see if it's okay to do the scans I have scheduled in Charleston on Thursday. I hope I don't have to reschedule the test because I have an appointment with the surgeon in Charleston a week from tomorrow. He is supposed to analyze the test, re-stage the tumor and hopefully schedule the surgery. It is getting close to crunch time!

My son, Scott, is coming in Friday evening but will only stay until Sunday. He is going directly to California from here. It will be great to see him even if it is just a short visit.

That's about it. I'll try to add a few pictures.

  2. Good to hear you were able to get out some. A normal life, and it's hard not to eat those fries! You'll be better and the turkey burger is good too. Bobbi & the Drew swimmers

  4. Bernie, We are enjoying your commentaries and the pictures of Spring springing forth in your yard. The stone work is beautiful. We are envious. We do not forget you (and Terry) in our thoughts and prayers. Keep your chins up.

  5. Kidney cancer or renal carcinoma usually occurs in older people and accounts for about 2 to 3% of cancers in adults, affecting about twice as many men as women. In adults, the most common type of kidney tumor is renal cell carcinoma, which begins in the cells that line the small tubes within your kidneys. Kidney cancer rarely strikes children and young adults; the exceptions are a pediatric kidney cancer called Wilms tumor and some forms of hereditary kidney cancer syndromes, such as von Hippel-Lindau disease.
