Time seems to be passing quickly again. I'm not doing much besides reading and trying to get better but for some reason the time is flying by. I am feeling better and I guess that has a great deal to do with it. I am able to eat most of the time but still have periods when nothing seems to go down and what does go down doesn't want to stay there. However, I am no longer losing weight and have actually gained a few pounds.

We took Chicky the kitten to be fixed today. She had gone into heat twice during the last few weeks and was carrying on something awful! We really miss her but she is due back tomorrow. I wonder if she will loose some of her kitten-like mannerisms. I hope she doesn't change too much!

It has turned hot here and we have had quite a bit of rain. We are still about 5-6 inches below where we are supposed to be but more rain is expected later this week. My garden continues to do well, not that I am able to spend much time working on my plants. Most of what is coming up is stuff that I planted a year or so ago. About all I am doing is taking pictures!

I still don't have my orchids back and wouldn't be able to care for them if I did. Stan, if you are reading this, I hope you are not growing tired of taking care of my plants! I bet you didn't know what you were getting into when you offered to care for them. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate what you are doing for me!

There are a lot of comments to my blogs that I should be answering and I will try to get to them. However, my email traffic is also picking up and I can keep up with it all. I hope you understand. I do appreciate the comments to my blogs and it means a lot that so many of you are following my progress. If I don't send you a personal reply, please understand.

Terry and I are going back to Charleston next week so the doctors at the MUSC cancer center can have another look at the nodule on my kidney that they discovered some time ago. This doesn't have anything to do with my esophageal cancer and I hope it isn't even malignant. However the possibility is there and I have to have it looked at. They will first scan it with x-rays and then take a biopsy if needed. I pray that it is benign. I'm just not up to dealing with another round of cancer treatment at this time!

This has gotten a little long so I will close with a few more pictures. Tomorrow is TGIF day and I hope you all have a great weekend.

  1. Bernie, this is all good news! Way to go! Mind over matter, anytime.
Now I must tell you that if your cats are in heat it's not good to let them be as close as they are in these pictures! That will make more cats in the form of Kittens. I'm so glad to hear the good news.
    God Bless you Bernie

  2. Bernie, you're looking good and glad to hear you are doing so well. You certainly have a great friend network going for you too! Nelson taught class today, as Chris called in sick. They are really running short on lifeguards at Drew. All the city pools are open and they new guards have gone there. David is supervising all of that. So we don't see him either. Gladys finally made it back and Theresa says Hey too! Nice pics and nice to have the company of the cats. They are a great joy at home here too. Take care and stop by some day when you're out! 3. Bernie, I'm so glad that things are "looking up" for you!! I enjoy the pictures of the yard (all of your flowers/plants are beautiful!) and of the kitties. I'm so glad you have them; I know you will enjoy having Chickie back home. It was good to see you here....please come again. Isn't Alex a wonderful dog? And hasn't she gotten pretty since she's gained weight? Hope my yard doesn't totally wash away during all this rain; it is eroding pretty fast; Steve is going to work on it this weekend and Monday. Tell Terry that I saw Sex and The City 2 last night and think that it is even better than the first one. You have to suspend reality, for things are so lavish in the movie...it was fun to see the great shoes, beautiful clothes, and home decor. Much of it is in Abi Dabe (spelling?) and Dubai....and the Arabian Desert...it was fun. Hope you continue to feel better; please let me know what I can do to help. Please visit again. love, becky

  6. Bernie,

Frank K reads your posts to me, and I enjoy hearing what is going on with you. Knowing that you have so much to deal with right now makes me especially appreciative of your visits to see me. I, too, am making some progress, but things seem to be leveling off some.

By now you should have Chicky back, and I know you are glad.
