I've gotten behind with my blog. There are two reasons for this. First, not much of interest has been happening and, second, I haven't been feeling very good. I'm much better tonight and I hope that tomorrow will be a good day. It promises to be hot, 90+ and it is supposed to rain, which we really need.
Today marks the third week since my operation and although there have been ups and down, I am steadily getting better. My lungs have cleared up (I do exercises every hour) and I was just starting to eat a little better when I started having stomach problems three days ago. There are a lot of variables that I have to manage such as how much I eat, when I eat (I am supposed to eat six small meals each day), drinking enough water at the right time, pain management, exercise, etc. Since my esophagus is basically gone and my stomach has been reduced by about a third, I have to reprogram a lot of functions and timing. I'm just not the same old me anymore and I have to learn to live with this new body! Well, enough about that.
I like my new camera but it is taking a while to learn how to use it. It has many more bells and whistles than my old camera so I can get much better results if I take the time to do everything right. I'm much more of a point and shoot kind of photographer so I have to make some changes in my technique. What I really need is for my daughter to show me how to use it. However, it now appears that it will be a while before she can get back to Columbia.
I received some very nice "get well" house plants including an orchid from my younger brother in California, a pink "versicolor" hibiscus from some of my high school classmates and a mum from one of Terry and my friends in Columbia. I tried to take some pictures of these and some of my other house plants but they didn't come out very good. I will post a few pictures and see how they look.
Well, that's enough for now. I hope you have a nice weekend.

Bernie, your pictures are beautiful! Thanks for posting them. Glad things are going well; for all that you've been through, I think you're doing phenomenally well! I loved the "coordinated" picture of you and Terry. I sent a regular e-mail to you two days ago, and it came back. I'd like to stop over but don't want to come at a time when you're sleeping or not especially wanting company....love to you, becky
