We got back to Columbia about 6:00 PM. Since we left before 5:00 AM, it was a very long day - plus the fact that it was raining both on the way down and back. Terry drove and it wasn't fun. We just came back from having dinner with our daughter who is visiting from Los Angeles.
I had a port installed in my arm today. They made an incision that was about 1 inch long by 1/2 deep and buried the port after threading the attached tube through my viens up to my heart. My whole arm is black and blue and it hurts like hell. I also had some some final measurements and tatoos for the radiation treatments and met again with the chemo doctor.
One of the good things that happened today is that we visited the Hope House where we have a nice room w/bath that is ours for the duration. This is a free accomodation for people that live more than 50 miles from the hospital. It is really nice - like a home away from home and the hospital is just across the street. More later--
Hang in there big guy. Our very best wishes to you during this challenging time.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are off to a good start on this and the sooner you start the quicker you'll beat it, right? Your room sounds very nice. We'll be thinking about you and sending prayers. Thanks for keeping us posted. love, john and holly

I can't think of a tougher guy for cancer to pick-your new motto needs to be "BRING IT". Do they know you can catch wild birds with your baseball cap-they better look out! Love you and Teri both!
ReplyDeleteBernie,
ReplyDeleteAll the Oldtimers will be praying for you. I did send out an email to those that I thought might know you. Also you have been added to our Prayer List.
Best regards and Wishes
Dick
